Mission statement - An annual event sponsored by Grand Harbor residents to support the fight against Cancer.
ABOUT: Answer to Cancer was started over 15 years ago by a group of Grand Harbor residents. We have grown to be one of the largest donors to the Scully-Welsh Cancer Center at the Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital with over $1,000,000 in donations to date. Each year, the Answer to Cancer committee chooses state-of-the-art programs or products to sponsor for the patients being treated at Scully – Welsh. Money raised is directed by the Answer to Cancer Board to the specific programs at Scully-Welsh.

ABOUT: The Grand Harbor Community Outreach Program is an all-volunteer organization operating as a 501 (C) (3) non-profit charity, founded in 2001. Through a direct appeal to Grand Harbor members and residents, solicitation of corporate sponsorships and hosting several major events, we raise funds which are distributed to over 30 local charities. Nearly 400 donors and volunteers support the activities of GHCOP. We have an active Board that oversees all our activities and we are always looking for additional volunteers and Board members. GHCOP raised over $486,470 in the 2023-2024 season and since our founding, has raised over approximately $7 million. We have no paid employees and 100% of each donor’s contribution goes to support a local charity.
Grand Harbor and Indian River Habitat for Humanity
Since 2006, Grand Harbor residents have provided thousands of volunteer hours working together with Indian River Habitat for Humanity in the new construction of affordable housing, home repairs to help those in need, and supporting the merchandising efforts of Habitat's ReStore, a home furnishings thrift store, located at 4580 US-1, Vero Beach.
Through the generous financial donations of Grand Harbor residents, as of 2021, have been the financial sponsor of 21 new homes over the years for families needing a hand up, not a hand-out. Our fund raising goal is to continue to sponsor at least one new home each year. Financial sponsorship of a home costs $70,000.

Grand Harbor Volunteers
Our members are making a difference in IndianRiver County. By volunteering we insure that more worthy individuals get a needed and timely hand up. By recruiting more volunteers we insure those on the waiting lists receive the help they need now
This project has 2 goals. The first is to increase Grand Harbor's philanthropic impact in our community. The second is to encourage and help other communities in IRC develop similar programs.
In addition -
There are many volunteering opportunities at all the local charitable organizations our members financially support.
Just google the name of the charity you support. You'll likely discover the volunteer opportunities your
favorite charities offer. The best way to decide if you really found a volunteering opportunity you would enjoy is to phone and request to visit their facility.
